Having a party soon? A great treat that will make any party a success is chocolate cake. Everyone (who likes chocolate) will love the rich, moist texture of this cake. It has a delicious flavor and it’s very easy to make. So here’s your chance to WOW with some made-from-scratch cake. Your friends will say that this is the best chocolate cake they’ve ever had, and you will never go back to the box chocolate cake again!
Mix 1 1/2 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup of softened margarine, 1 cup of buttermilk, 2 eggs, and 6 Tablespoons of cocoa.
Slowly add in the 2 cups of flour.
Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to 1 cup of boiling water and mix into the first mixture.
Pour batter into greased cake pans.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pan so they come out easier when you are ready to frost them.
Next it’s time to make the chocolate buttercream frosting. In a mixer blend 1/3 cup of softened butter, 3 3/4 of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of milk, 1 tsp. of vanilla, 1/4 tsp. of salt, and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder until smooth. Add a little more milk if the frosting is too thick.
Now you can frost your cake. Carefully remove the first cake from the pan and set it on the cake stand. One trick to keep your cake stand free of extra frosting is to place a piece of wax paper just under the edge of the cake while frosting. Then you can pull it away when you are finished.
Frost the top of this base layer and then add on the top layer of the cake.Frost the top and sides of your cake.Remove the wax paper from the edge. Now pour yourself a tall glass of ice cold milk, sit back, kick your feet up, and enjoy a slice of your delicious cake.
